Parent Testimonial

"... We chose to enroll him at Sunrise for three reasons: to provide more social interaction with children his age and older; to lay the foundation for what we hope will be a successful academic future; and to expose him to the Montessori methods. What we have gotten is SO MUCH MORE!..."

Activity Schedule

An uninterrupted 3-hour work period per day is required for the Montessori Method of education to produce the results for which it is famous. Of course, our students need time to move and explore outside, express themselves through art, and then there are after school enrichment choices as well. We try to balance the children's day with a variety of activities while still following the 3-hour work period. Below is a sample Activity Schedule for our Primary classes at Sunrise Montessori:

7:00AM – 8:00AM

Playtime in outdoor play area or classroom, depending on weather.

Independent learning/Large & Small Group Lessons

8:00AM – 11:00AM

Let’s learn! Students work independently with materials that interest them while teachers work with small groups (2 – 3 children at a time) on their letters, numbers, and/or Montessori materials. Snack is offered during this time, which consists of fruit and water. Children also participate in Circle Time - group lesson, calendar, singing songs, Grace and Courtesy lesson, sharing, and more!

Playtime is offered

Between 11:00AM – 11:30AM

A short, ten-minute outside playtime for each class, weather permitting.

11:30AM – 12:30PM

Students eat lunch and then work with their teacher in small groups on their reading skills, if time. Our Half Day students are picked up by 12PM.

12:30PM - 2:30PM

Naptime for our full day students. If a child wakes up early, a quiet activity, such as reading a book on their mat, is offered.

Arts ‘n’ Crafts/Snack/Playtime

2:30PM – 4:30PM

Nap mats are put away. Students participate in one of our arts and crafts activities, such as painting, play doh, gluing together construction paper creations, or coloring. During this time, everyone goes potty and washes their hands, then has a carb snack with milk. Classes also get a 30-minute play period outside with their class, weather permitting.

Playtime/Pick up

Playtime outside or inside the classroom with special, end-of-day toys. Parents pick up by 6PM.

*Full Day students can be picked up whenever their parent chooses. Some students are picked up at 3PM while others are picked up later. We are open until 6PM for your convenience.
